Obituary

Terrence Eugene Coogan, Jr

On the morning of August 11, 2020 our loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa left us too soon. Terry was born on January 8, 1944 to Terrence & Margurite Coogan in Seattle, Washington and grew up in Midway, WA. where he helped his father build the Shammrock Motel. After graduating from Mt. Rainier High School in 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Knapp on March 14, 1964. They lived in Burien, WA. before buying their first house in Federal Way, WA. In 1975 they bought a small farm in Enumclaw where they raised their four children. Terry enjoyed his farm, raising cows, chickens and pigs, putting up hay, rototilling his garden and welding in his shop. Terry began his work career as a mechanic for Kenworth Trucking Company before going to work for Sound Elevator Company in 1965, constructing and servicing elevators and escalators for almost 40 years. After retiring he and Jean would spend their winters in Arizona enjoying the warm sun and many rounds of golf with good friends. He was also a member of the Buckley Eagles #1387 for over 30 years. A man who taught his family strength, determination, stubbornness and a good work ethic will be missed everyday by his wife of 56 years, Jean, daughters Dianna Olafson (Jed), Debbie Borreson, Michelle Apodaca (Tony) and son Michael Coogan (Trina). His grandchildren, Hannah Stone (Mark), Hailey Olafson, Hogan Olafson (Hannah), Harley Olafson, KyLee Apodaca (Ayla), Kody Apodaca, Beau Coogan, Blake Coogan, Mason Coogan and great grandchildren, DJ, Brody, Emersyn and Dayvanee. He also leaves behind his sister, Colleen Wright and numerous nieces and nephews.
