It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Robert L Wiles, age 74, of Auburn Washington on August 21 st , 2023 after a prolonged illness. Robert was born October 20 th , 1948 to Earl (Don) Wiles and Mary Swigart-McCreary. A graduate of Kellogg High School, Kellogg, ID in 1968, he joined service with the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1981 at the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant.

In his later years, Robert continued the musical tradition of his father Don. He crafted fiddles and fiddle bows. He also sang and wrote his own songs, many of which were about folklore and memories from his childhood in the Silver Valley. Robert is survived by his four sons Steven Wiles (Siana) of Billings, MT, Jeffry Rice of Austin, TX, Christopher Wiles of Valdez, AK, and Joseph Wiles of Renton, WA, his sisters Patricia Kerns of Bonny Lake, WA, and Linda Ackaret of Nine Mile Falls, WA, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. No memorial service is planned at this time.
