Penelope Jeanne
Woodruff
January 28, 1948 – January 11, 2022
Penelope Jeanne Robinson Woodruff was born on January 28, 1948, in Minot, North Dakota to Edwin and Elizabeth Robinson. She died in Puyallup, Washington on January 11, 2022, in the company of friends and family. She is survived by her siblings, Rebecca Gappert, Dave Robinson, Jeff Robinson, her daughter Allison Preston, and her most precious grandchildren, Logan and Amelia. Penelope was the oldest child in her family and took on the role of caring for her siblings from an early age to help support her parents. This caregiving role eventually morphed into becoming a Registered Nurse where she spent time as staff nurse as well as a nurse supervisor. Her love of nursing and the medical field led her to a Master\'s Degree in Nursing Education where she spent the rest of her career educating nursing students. Penelope married her husband Donald Woodruff in Minot in 1971. Their careers led them to Columbus, Ohio where they lived for many years. In 1987 they welcomed their daughter, Allison. Penelope spent 16 years as the Director of Nursing at Grays Harbor College and was an active member of Montesano Presbyterian Church until the death of her husband in 2019 which prompted her to move closer to her daughter in Sumner where she remained until her death. There will be a service held for her on February 5, 2022 at the Brady Grange. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Chehalis Valley Community Church of which Penelope had attended a few times and was a financial supporter.
