Norman A.Hammer Sr. passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2025.
He was surrounded by his family during his last days. Norman was born 4/12/1932 and grew up in Lemmon SD. In 1959 he married JoAnne Ericsson and they moved to the west coast. They were blessed with three children. Norman Jr., Deborah Lynn and Greg Alan.
Norman developed the engineering program for the Diesel Heavy Duty Equipment Tech. class at S. Seattle C. College. He was an instructor there for 20 years and was very active in the Teachers Union.
After retiring he built their present home and their cabin at Mt. Rainier. Twice a year he held a golfing get together at the cabin with several of the guys he grew up with.
Norman was loved by his family and known as Dad, Grandpa, MeMe and PaPa.
He is preceded in death by his son Norman Hammer Jr., His parents Alf and Albina Hammer, His sisters Aldene (Warren) Nash and Betty (Paul) Bishop.
He is survived by his wife JoAnne, daughter Deborah (Vic) Peterson, son Greg (Cathy) Hammer, grandchildren Brent (Brittany) Hammer, Clara Hammer, Cole Peterson, Theresa (David) Armstrong, Tiffany (Kyle) Mosher, great grandchildren Mason and Madison, Brady, Matthew, Makayla, Kade and Kollins. There will be a Celebration of Life later this year for the immediate family.
