Moyer "Van" VanArsdale
Hubbard
Dec 19, 1935 — Jul 7, 2026
At the age of 90, Moyer Van Arsdale Hubbard died on July 7, 2026 after a bout with pancreatic cancer. He is known as “Van” to all his family and friends. Van was born in Long Beach, California on December 19,1935. He was the only child born to George Moyer Hubbard and Nellie Bailey. His half-sister, Ruth Hubbard DeVore, preceded him in death.
Van married Arlene Mitchell while in the Marine Corps and they had 4 children. They were married 23 years, and then divorced. Van worked as a pump and irrigation specialist in California, Virginia, and Washington, first as an employee and then his own business. His favorite times were spent with his children, camping, boating, exploring new places, and just having fun.
When Van moved to Fresno, CA he met Janese Kamps, and they were married on August 14, 1982. They adopted two boys at the ages of 10 and 7 years old (Phil and Mauricio). Van always had a love of learning new things and exploring new places, creating great memories for his children and grand-children.
Van lived his life to the fullest. He was in the Marine Corps for 8 years, ran a successful business. He didn’t believe in retirement, and became a missionary to Central Asia and Africa at the age of 56. He loved the challenge of learning and living in different cultures, sharing his faith in Jesus Christ, and building relationships all over the world. His greatest joy was helping others improve their lives, and watching their faith in Jesus grow. His home was always open to others, no matter what country he was living in.
Van and Janese were married for 43 years. Van is survived by his wife, Janese, and his children and their spouses, Janine (Jeff) Arthur of Davis, CA; Stephanie (Clancy) McCarthy of Reno, NV; Moyer (Heidi) Hubbard of LaMirada, CA; Linley (Steve) Brown of Orting, WA; Philip McInerney of Buckley, WA; and Mauricio (Karen Moore) Hubbard of Tacoma, WA. He has 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He leaves them with a legacy of a strong faith, a life of serving God and others.
