John Carl West, 77, passed away at home and ended his watch on April 8, 2024. Born on April 27, 1946, in Cowiche, WA, John graduated from Yakima Central Catholic High School in 1964, Yakima Valley Community College in 1966, and Spokane Community College in 1967.

John served honorably in the U.S. Navy from January 1968 to October 1973 as a CTM2 where he traveled the world. He began his civilian career as a Communications Tech at Motorola and concluded his professional life with the US Forest Service, where he dedicated 15 years before retiring.

John was a passionate traveler, skilled mariner, fisherman, and navigator. His love for RVs and boats fueled many memorable adventures. An avid technophile and handyman, John could fix nearly anything, earning him the affectionate nickname of 'the problem solver' among friends and family. He had a particular love for dogs and enjoyed spending his free time engaging with technology and nature.

Predeceased by his first wife, Katherine Anita West (Secondo) in 2001; his parents, Carl Emil and Frances Jean West in 2013; and daughter, Jenny Rebecca in 2022, John leaves behind his loving wife, Kathleen (Kathy); sister Paula; son Eric and daughter-in-law Maylynn; as well as six grandchildren: Andrew (22), Kaylee (21), Kellan (12), Brandon (16), Jaden (15), and Peyton (12). John also leaves behind cherished grand-dogs, who brought him immense joy and companionship.

John will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose legacy of warmth, ingenuity, and courage will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He will be sorely and deeply missed. We wish him fair winds and following seas.

His Celebration of Life will be at Bonney Lake Senior Center on July 6th at 2PM.
